Roisin Murphy - Ruby Blue

These paintings are a culmination of a years work with Roisin. This is the first time I have worked so closely with another artist. The work came out of a very organic process and developed all its many strands very naturally.

The character of Ruby Blue materialised through half a dozen or so photo shoots -  with Roisin's own unique style leading the way.

The Videos were more difficult and required a fuller realisation of the world. I still treated them like paintings - bringing Roisin's remarkable performances together with surrealistic imagery. I used many in-camera effects and old style illusions as well as CGI animation.

In a way the whole process has been an act of sampling our different disciplines together - to create pictures that reflect the kaleidoscope of sounds and vocals on the record.
